Description

This Air Fryer Buffalo Cauliflower recipe delivers crispy, flavorful cauliflower bites coated in a spicy buffalo sauce. Perfect as a healthy appetizer or snack, this dish uses an air fryer to achieve a crunchy texture without deep frying. Tossed in a homemade or store-bought buffalo sauce mixed with butter, these cauliflower florets make a delicious and satisfying vegetarian alternative to traditional buffalo wings.

Ingredients

Scale

Cauliflower Batter

  • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Buffalo Sauce

  • 3/4 cup buffalo sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, water, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  2. Coat the cauliflower: Toss the bite-sized cauliflower florets in the batter, making sure each piece is evenly coated with the mixture.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat. Spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Air fry the cauliflower: Arrange the battered cauliflower florets in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 15 to 18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.
  5. Prepare the buffalo sauce: While the cauliflower is cooking, mix the buffalo sauce and melted unsalted butter in a bowl until fully combined.
  6. Toss cauliflower in buffalo sauce: After initial cooking, toss the crispy cauliflower in the buffalo sauce mixture to coat evenly. Return the coated florets to the air fryer and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes to set the sauce.
  7. Serve: Serve the buffalo cauliflower warm, with ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can spray the cauliflower lightly with cooking spray before the first air frying step.
  • Adjust the amount of buffalo sauce according to your preferred spice level.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the cauliflower in the oven at 425°F (220°C) for about 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway.
