Description

Indulge in the delicious flavors of fall with this Amish Apple Fritter Bread recipe. A moist and tender loaf packed with cinnamon-sugar apples and topped with a sweet glaze, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Bread:

  • 1⁄3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples (peeled and diced)
  • 2⁄3 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1¾ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup milk

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix cinnamon-sugar: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon, set aside.
  3. Cream sugar and butter: Cream granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour and baking powder. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, mix until just combined.
  5. Layer batter and apples: Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, top with half of the apples and cinnamon-sugar. Repeat layering, then swirl the top with a knife.
  6. Bake and cool: Bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  7. Make glaze and drizzle: Mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over cooled bread before slicing.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
