For the Bread:
- 1⁄3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 medium apples (peeled and diced)
- 2⁄3 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 large eggs
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1¾ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ cup milk
For the Glaze:
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mix cinnamon-sugar: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon, set aside.
- Cream sugar and butter: Cream granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour and baking powder. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, mix until just combined.
- Layer batter and apples: Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, top with half of the apples and cinnamon-sugar. Repeat layering, then swirl the top with a knife.
- Bake and cool: Bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Make glaze and drizzle: Mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over cooled bread before slicing.
