Description

These Apple Pie Biscuits are a delightful combination of flaky biscuits and spiced apples, perfect for a cozy breakfast or a sweet treat any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

Diced Apple Mixture:

  • 1 cup peeled and finely diced apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon apple pie spice

Biscuit Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ¾ cup whole milk

Additional:

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
  • Coarse sugar (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Apple Mixture: In a small bowl, toss diced apples with brown sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and apple pie spice.
  3. Make Biscuit Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk, then fold in apple mixture.
  4. Shape and Bake: Turn dough out onto a floured surface, pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle, cut out rounds, place on baking sheet, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden.
  5. Serve: Serve warm.

Notes

  • Best served fresh but can be stored for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat briefly in the oven or toaster oven.
  • Great with a drizzle of glaze or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
