Biscuit Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- ¾ cup whole milk
Additional:
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
- Coarse sugar (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare Apple Mixture: In a small bowl, toss diced apples with brown sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and apple pie spice.
- Make Biscuit Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk, then fold in apple mixture.
- Shape and Bake: Turn dough out onto a floured surface, pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle, cut out rounds, place on baking sheet, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden.
- Serve: Serve warm.
