Description

The Bootlegger Drink is a refreshing and minty cocktail combining lemonade and limeade concentrates with fresh mint, vodka, and a splash of club soda. It’s perfect for a cool summer beverage, featuring a homemade Bootleg mix that intensifies the fresh mint flavors after refrigerating for a couple of hours.

Ingredients

Scale

Bootleg Mix:

  • 12 ounce can lemonade concentrate
  • 12 ounce can limeade concentrate
  • 1 cup packed fresh mint leaves

Cocktail:

  • 1 ½ ounces vodka
  • 3 ounces Bootleg mix
  • Splash of club soda
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bootleg Mix: Place the lemonade concentrate, limeade concentrate, and packed mint leaves into a blender. Blend until the mint is finely chopped, creating a bright, aromatic mixture. Pour the blend into a jar and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and develop fully. Note that during refrigeration, the chopped mint will rise to the top; before making cocktails, scoop off most of the mint for a smoother drink.
  2. Assemble the Bootleg Cocktail: Fill a lowball glass with ice cubes. Pour 1 ½ ounces of vodka and 3 ounces of the chilled Bootleg mix over the ice.
  3. Add Club Soda and Garnish: Top the cocktail with a splash of club soda for effervescence. Stir gently to combine all ingredients. Finish by garnishing with a sprig of fresh mint for an aromatic touch and appealing presentation.

Notes

  • Refrigerating the Bootleg mix for at least 2 hours enhances the fresh mint flavor.
  • Remove excess mint from the Bootleg mix before mixing cocktails to avoid a bitter taste and ensure smooth texture.
  • Adjust the amount of vodka and club soda to suit your taste preference.
  • Serve the cocktail chilled for best refreshment.
