Ingredients
Scale
Salad
- 1 head butter leaf lettuce (torn into bite-size pieces)
- 1 small bunch radishes (sliced paper-thin)
- 2 eggs (hard boiled)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1/3 baguette (cut into croutons)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Dressing
- 2 heaping teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1-2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill (chopped)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven for Croutons: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and move the rack to the top position to ensure the croutons bake evenly and get crispy.
- Prepare and Bake Croutons: In a baking sheet, toss the baguette pieces with garlic powder, olive oil, salt, and pepper until they are evenly coated. Spread the pieces out in a single layer and bake for 15 minutes until golden brown and crunchy.
- Cook the Eggs: Hard boil the eggs by placing them in boiling water for about 8 minutes. After cooking, transfer the eggs to cold water to cool down before peeling.
- Make the Lemon Dill Dressing: In a small bowl, combine Dijon mustard, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Slowly whisk in the olive oil a little at a time to emulsify the dressing. Stir in the fresh dill just before serving.
- Assemble the Salad: In a large bowl, add the butter leaf lettuce, sliced radishes, and chopped parsley. Peel and cut the hard-boiled eggs according to your preference. Add the freshly baked croutons. Pour the lemon dill dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine. Serve immediately for the best texture.
Notes
- You can substitute the baguette with any crusty bread for the croutons.
- For a stronger garlic flavor in the dressing, increase the garlic cloves to 2.
- The salad is best served immediately to keep the lettuce crisp and the croutons crunchy.
- To save time, you can hard boil eggs ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator.
- Fresh herbs like dill and parsley elevate the flavor profile significantly—avoid dried substitutes if possible.
