Description

These Cheddar Ranch Beef Burgers combine juicy ground chuck with creamy sour cream, zesty ranch seasoning, and sharp cheddar cheese for a flavorful twist on classic burgers. Grilled or skillet-cooked to perfection, they’re topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, mustard, and mayonnaise, making a delicious and satisfying meal perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1½ lb ground chuck
  • 3 Tbsp sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp ranch dressing mix
  • â…“ cup finely chopped cooked ground beef (seasoned with salt & pepper)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For Serving

  • 6 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce leaves (for topping)
  • Tomato slices (for topping)
  • Mustard (for topping)
  • Mayonnaise (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chuck, sour cream, ranch dressing mix, chopped cooked ground beef, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix gently until all ingredients are just combined, taking care not to overwork the meat to keep the burgers tender.
  2. Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form each into a patty. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty; this helps the burgers cook evenly and prevents them from puffing up.
  3. Preheat and Cook: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4–5 minutes on each side, or until the desired doneness is reached—140–145°F for medium, or 160°F for well done.
  4. Rest Patties: Remove the burgers from the heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes; this allows the juices to redistribute and results in a juicier burger.
  5. Toast Buns: If desired, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a skillet until lightly golden and warmed through.
  6. Assemble Burgers: Build your burgers by placing the patties on the buns and topping with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, mustard, mayonnaise, or any additional toppings you like. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adding the chopped cooked ground beef to the raw mixture adds extra flavor and a nice texture contrast.
  • Pressing an indentation in the patties prevents them from bulging and helps them cook evenly.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure burgers are cooked safely and to your preferred doneness.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings with pickles, onions, or your favorite burger condiments.
  • These patties can also be cooked under a broiler if a grill or skillet is not available.
