Cookie Bar Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined. Beat in the eggs followed by the vanilla extract ensuring a smooth mixture.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet mixture. Stir gently just until all ingredients are blended together without overmixing.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Fold the semi-sweet chocolate chips into the batter evenly for consistent chocolate in every bite.
- Transfer and Bake: Spoon the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top evenly with a rubber spatula. Bake for 30 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and the center is set.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into 15 squares to serve.
Notes
- For softer bars, slightly underbake by 2-3 minutes.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal and cleanup.
- You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate as preferred.
- Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- For a festive twist, add chopped nuts or swirl in peanut butter before baking.
