Description

A rich and flavorful Creamy Garlic Butter Steak & Pasta recipe featuring tender seared steak strips tossed with pasta in a luscious garlic butter cream sauce, complemented by fresh spinach and Parmesan cheese for a satisfying and elegant meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta and Steak

  • 8 oz (225g) pasta of your choice (fettuccine, spaghetti, or penne)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 12 oz (340g) steak of your choice (ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon), sliced into strips
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Sauce and Garnish

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (50g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) beef or chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach leaves or baby spinach
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Season the steak: While the pasta cooks, season the steak strips with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  3. Sear the steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned steak strips and sear for about 2 minutes on each side or until they reach your preferred doneness. Remove steak from skillet and set aside.
  4. Sauté garlic in butter: Reduce heat to medium, add butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Prepare the sauce: Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, beef or chicken broth, and optional red pepper flakes. Let the sauce simmer gently for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally to combine and thicken.
  6. Add spinach: Add fresh spinach leaves to the sauce and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes.
  7. Combine pasta and steak: Return the cooked steak strips to the skillet along with drained pasta. Toss everything together until pasta is well coated with creamy sauce.
  8. Season to taste: Taste the dish and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
  9. Garnish and serve: Remove skillet from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • You can use any pasta shape you prefer such as fettuccine, spaghetti, or penne.
  • Choose steak cuts like ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon based on taste and budget.
  • Red pepper flakes are optional and add a nice subtle heat; omit if preferred mild.
  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a mix of milk and cream.
  • Be careful not to overcook the steak during searing to keep it tender and juicy.
  • Use fresh spinach for better texture and flavor; frozen spinach is not recommended for this recipe.
