Pie Ingredients
- 1 ready-made pie crust
- 5 tbsp. Cocoa powder
- 3 Eggs, room temperature
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup Heavy cream
- 1 cup White Chocolate Ghirardelli wafers
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the pie.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, and cocoa powder till well combined.
- Whisk dry ingredients: Whisk the dry mixture to ensure even distribution of cocoa powder and sugar.
- Add milk: Pour the evaporated milk into the dry ingredient mixture and stir thoroughly to integrate the wet and dry ingredients.
- Combine thoroughly: Stir the mixture well to create a smooth base.
- Beat eggs: In a small bowl, beat the room temperature eggs lightly, then add them to the cocoa mixture.
- Mix eggs in: Stir the batter to fully incorporate the eggs with the cocoa mixture.
- Add vanilla and butter: Add the vanilla extract and softened unsalted butter to the mixture.
- Beat batter: Use a hand mixer to beat the mixture until it becomes smooth and slightly fluffy, ensuring all ingredients are well blended.
- Prepare pie shell: Pour the smooth batter evenly into the ready-made pie crust.
- Bake the pie: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the filling is set and a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and garnish: Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool completely. Garnish with white chocolate Ghirardelli wafers over the top to add texture and extra chocolate flavor before serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs to help achieve a smoother batter and better texture.
- Make sure the butter is softened, not melted, for easier incorporation and a creamier filling.
- Evaporated milk provides richness without adding too much liquid; do not substitute with regular milk.
- Bake the pie on the middle rack for even heat distribution.
- Allow the pie to cool completely to set properly before slicing.
- For an extra fudge effect, serve chilled or slightly warmed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
