Description

Learn how to make a delicious Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce at home with this easy recipe. This sweet and tangy sauce is perfect for ribs, pulled pork, burgers, or grilled chicken.

Ingredients

Sauce:

    2 cups Dr. Pepper
    1 cup ketchup
    1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
    1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
    1/4 cup honey
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1 tablespoon tomato paste
    1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
    1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the Dr. Pepper, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Stir in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper if using. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
  3. Simmer uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using or storing.

Notes

You can store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Adjust the sweetness or spice to your taste by adding more brown sugar or cayenne pepper.
Great on ribs, pulled pork, burgers, or grilled chicken.
