Ingredients
Sauce:
- 2 cups Dr. Pepper
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the Dr. Pepper, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Whisk until smooth.
- Stir in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper if using. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
- Simmer uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using or storing.
