Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the noodles: Cook the noodles according to package instructions until they are al dente. Drain them thoroughly and set aside to prevent sticking.
  2. Season and sear the beef: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak with cornstarch and a pinch of salt to coat evenly. Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and sear for 2–3 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté aromatics and broccoli: Using the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the broccoli florets along with a splash of water, then stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until the broccoli is tender but still crisp.
  4. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth or water until smooth.
  5. Combine beef, sauce, and noodles: Return the seared beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the prepared sauce over everything and stir well to coat the ingredients evenly. Add the cooked noodles and toss gently to combine and heat through.
  6. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot for a delicious and hearty meal.

Notes

  • Flank steak or skirt steak works best for tender slices.
  • You can substitute frozen broccoli; just thaw and pat dry before cooking.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha.
