Description

Easy Beef and Noodles is a comforting and hearty dish featuring tender egg noodles tossed with a savory ground beef gravy flavored with garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning. Quick to prepare and perfect for a family dinner, this recipe balances rich flavors with simple ingredients for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Noodles

  • 2 cups uncooked egg noodles

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the beef and onion: While the noodles cook, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Break up the meat with a spatula and cook until beef is browned and onions are softened, about 10 minutes. Drain excess fat if using non-lean beef but leave a couple tablespoons of fat in the pan for flavor.
  3. Add seasonings: Reduce heat to medium. Stir in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning. Cook for 1 minute to release flavors.
  4. Incorporate flour: Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste and form a roux.
  5. Add beef broth: Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly to dissolve the flour and scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  6. Simmer to thicken: Cook the gravy for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened to your liking. If too thick, add a splash of beef broth to adjust consistency.
  7. Combine noodles and beef gravy: Add the drained egg noodles to the skillet and toss to evenly coat with the beef mixture. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
  8. Serve: Serve the beef and noodles hot immediately for a comforting meal.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef for less grease, but leaving some fat in the pan adds flavor.
  • Adjust the thickness of the gravy by adding more or less beef broth depending on preference.
  • For extra vegetables, consider adding sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, or peas.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently on stovetop or microwave, adding a splash of broth to loosen if needed.
