Description

Crispy, golden pigs in a blanket with a flavorful twist of everything bagel seasoning, perfect as a party appetizer or snack. Mini sausages are wrapped in flaky crescent dough, brushed with an egg wash, and baked to perfection. Served with a sweet and tangy honey Dijon mustard dipping sauce, this easy recipe is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 8 ounces crescent dough sheets (1 package)
  • 14 ounces mini sausages (1 package)
  • 1 large egg (beaten with a splash of water for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning (store-bought or homemade)

Dipping Sauce

  • ¼ cup country Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough strips: Unroll the crescent dough into a long rectangle. Cut the dough into thirds lengthwise, then cut each portion into thin strips about ¼-inch thick. Using a pizza cutter is recommended for ease, but a knife works well too.
  2. Wrap the sausages: Take each mini sausage and wrap one dough strip around it, pinching the seam to secure the dough firmly. Place the wrapped sausages on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat until all sausages are wrapped.
  3. Apply egg wash and seasoning: Brush each wrapped sausage generously with the beaten egg mixture to ensure a golden crust when baked. Sprinkle a pinch of everything bagel seasoning on top of each one for added flavor and texture.
  4. Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the pigs in a blanket for 13-15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and the dough is fully cooked through.
  5. Prepare dipping sauce and serve: While baking, mix the Dijon mustard and honey in a small bowl to create a sweet and tangy honey mustard dip. Serve the warm pigs in a blanket with this dipping sauce, or with ketchup or BBQ sauce if preferred. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure the egg wash covers all exposed dough surfaces.
  • Everything bagel seasoning can be store-bought or made at home with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, onion flakes, and salt.
  • If crescent dough sheets are not available, puff pastry sheets can be used as a substitute.
  • These can be made ahead and reheated in a warm oven before serving.
  • Leftover pigs in a blanket store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
