Description

Delicious and satisfying Fried Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches with a flavorful Blue Cheese Slaw topping. This recipe combines crispy fried chicken coated in buffalo sauce with a creamy slaw that has a hint of tangy blue cheese.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Fried Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for toasting buns)

For the Blue Cheese Slaw:

  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, whisk together buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Marinate the chicken in this mixture for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare the Slaw: Mix all the slaw ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Fry the Chicken: Dredge the marinated chicken in flour and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Coat in Buffalo Sauce: Warm the buffalo sauce and toss the fried chicken in it until coated.
  5. Assemble the Sandwiches: Toast the brioche buns, then assemble the sandwiches with slaw, buffalo chicken, and the top bun. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought buffalo sauce or make your own by combining hot sauce with melted butter.
  • For extra heat, add sliced jalapeños to the slaw or a drizzle of hot sauce on top.
