Description

This Honey Dijon Garlic Chicken Breasts recipe features tender, juicy chicken breasts baked in a flavorful glaze of honey, whole grain Dijon mustard, and garlic. Perfect for a quick and delicious weeknight dinner, the glaze caramelizes slightly during baking, adding a sweet and tangy depth to the dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 6 ounces each
  • Pinch of salt and pepper, to season

Honey Dijon Garlic Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons whole grain Dijon mustard
  • Pinch of salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the baking pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil, ensuring enough space around each chicken breast. Place the pan in a 425°F (220°C) oven to heat up while preparing the glaze.
  2. Prepare the glaze: Melt the butter in a small sauté pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30-60 seconds until softened without browning. Stir in the honey, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture for 1-2 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  3. Season and arrange chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Carefully remove the hot baking pan from the oven and arrange the chicken breasts evenly, spaced apart.
  4. Apply the glaze and bake: Pour the hot honey Dijon garlic glaze evenly over the chicken breasts. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Remove, baste the chicken with glaze from the pan, then continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 170°F (77°C).
  5. Rest and serve: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute before serving.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked safely to 170°F (77°C).
  • Do not brown garlic to avoid bitterness, just soften it.
  • Resting the chicken helps keep it juicy.
  • You can substitute butter with olive oil for a different flavor profile.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a side salad for a balanced meal.
