Description

These Maple Crisp Brie Bites combine crispy baguette slices topped with creamy triple cream brie, savory prosciutto, and a touch of sweet maple syrup, finished with crunchy pecans and fresh thyme. Perfect as elegant appetizers for gatherings or festive occasions, they balance rich and sweet flavors with a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 26 – 30 slices good baguette (sourdough, ciabatta, etc.), sliced 6mm / 0.25″ thick
  • 50g / 3 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt flakes (or 1/8 tsp cooking salt / kosher salt)

Toppings

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (real, not artificial flavored syrup; substitute: honey)
  • 6 slices prosciutto (or similar cured meats)
  • 200g / 7 oz triple cream brie
  • 1/4 cup pecans, lightly toasted and finely chopped (or other nuts)
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (for a tiny drizzle on each, optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baguette slices: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice your chosen baguette into 6mm (0.25″) thick slices. Melt the unsalted butter, then brush each baguette slice on both sides with the melted butter and sprinkle lightly with salt flakes.
  2. Toast the baguette slices: Place the buttered baguette slices onto a baking sheet in a single layer. Toast them in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until they turn golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  3. Assemble and bake the bites: Lay a slice of prosciutto over each toasted baguette slice, followed by a generous piece of triple cream brie. Drizzle a small amount of maple syrup over the tops if desired. Sprinkle chopped toasted pecans and fresh thyme leaves evenly across the bites. Return the assembled bites to the oven and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the brie is soft and slightly melted. Serve warm as delightful bite-sized appetizers.

Notes

  • Use real maple syrup for an authentic sweet flavor; honey is an acceptable substitute but will alter the taste slightly.
  • Prosciutto can be replaced with other cured meats like serrano ham or pancetta based on preference.
  • Ensure pecans are lightly toasted and chopped finely to add a pleasant crunch without overpowering the bites.
  • Fresh thyme is highly recommended as it complements the maple and brie beautifully.
  • Keep an eye during baking to avoid over-melting the brie and drying the baguette.
