Description

These Pepperoni Pizza Tacos are a fun and flavorful twist on two favorites: pizza and tacos. Ground beef is seasoned with Italian herbs and simmered in pizza sauce, then layered with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices inside warm flour tortillas. Pan-fried until golden and crispy, they make a delicious, easy-to-make main course perfect for family dinners or casual entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup pizza sauce

Tacos

  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 24 slices pepperoni
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Olive oil for brushing

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Season and simmer: Add the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the beef, stirring to combine. Pour in the pizza sauce and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is heated through and slightly thickened.
  3. Prepare tortillas: Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly brush one side of each tortilla with olive oil. Place the tortillas oiled-side-down on a clean surface.
  4. Assemble tacos: On one half of each tortilla, layer a few spoonfuls of the beef mixture, a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese, 3 slices of pepperoni, and a pinch of Parmesan. Fold the other half of the tortilla over to form a taco shape.
  5. Cook tacos: Carefully transfer the tacos to the skillet, cooking 2-3 at a time. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden brown and crispy. Repeat with the remaining tacos.
  6. Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or plant-based crumbles for the ground beef for a different protein option.
  • For extra crispiness, bake the assembled tacos at 400°F (200°C) for 5-7 minutes after pan-frying.
  • Serve with warm marinara or ranch dressing for dipping to complement the pizza flavors.
