Scale
Ingredients
- 4 fresh limes (thin-skinned and juicy)
- 4 cups (960 ml) cold water
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups (240 g) ice cubes
- Optional: extra condensed milk or lime slices for garnish
Instructions
- Prep the Limes: Wash the limes thoroughly to remove any dirt or residues. Cut each lime into quarters, keeping the peel on to retain the citrus oils that contribute to the drink’s distinctive flavor.
- First Blend (In Batches): Place 2 lime quarters, 2 cups of cold water, and half of the granulated sugar into a blender. Pulse the mixture for 5 to 7 seconds; avoid over-blending to prevent bitterness from the peel.
- Strain: Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher or bowl, discarding the solid bits. Repeat this process with the remaining limes, sugar, and water to complete the liquid base.
- Final Blend: Return all the strained lime liquid to the blender. Add the sweetened condensed milk and ice cubes. Blend everything together until the mixture is smooth, frothy, and well combined.
- Serve: Pour the Brazilian Lemonade into glasses or a pitcher. Garnish with lime slices or a drizzle of additional condensed milk if desired. Serve immediately over extra ice for the best refreshing experience.
Notes
- Do not over-blend the limes to avoid bitterness from the peel.
- Use thin-skinned, juicy limes for the best flavor and juice yield.
- Sweetened condensed milk adds creaminess and sweetness; adjust quantity to taste.
- Serve immediately for optimal freshness and frothiness.
- Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours but may lose frothiness.
