Ingredients
Scale
Salmon
- 4 fillets Fresh Salmon Fillets (about 4 to 6 ounces each, skinless)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)
- 0.5 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil (for drizzling)
Salsa Verde and Garnish
- 1 cup Salsa Verde (blend of fresh herbs, garlic, lime juice, and green chilies)
- 1 whole Lime (cut into wedges for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the salmon after searing.
- Season Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure a crisp sear and season both sides evenly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Heat Olive Oil: In a skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers, indicating it’s hot enough for searing.
- Sear Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down if your fillets have skin, and sear for 4 to 5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crisp.
- Flip and Cook: Flip the salmon fillets carefully and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- Add Salsa Verde: Transfer the seared salmon to a baking dish and spoon the salsa verde generously over the top of each fillet.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 5 to 7 minutes, allowing the salsa verde flavors to meld with the fish and the dish to warm through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with fresh lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the salmon before eating.
Notes
- Ensure salmon fillets are dry before seasoning to achieve a perfect sear.
- Salsa verde can be homemade or store-bought; fresh is always best for flavor.
- Use a non-stick skillet or well-seasoned pan to prevent sticking during searing.
- Adjust cooking times slightly depending on the thickness of your salmon fillets.
- Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or rice for a complete meal.
