Description

These Spicy Shrimp Pockets are a delightful seafood appetizer that packs a punch of flavor in every bite. Succulent shrimp mixed with a blend of spices, encased in flaky puff pastry, and baked to golden perfection, these pockets are a must-try for seafood lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack or pepper jack cheese
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sauté ingredients: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onion, garlic, and jalapeño. Add shrimp, spices, salt, and pepper. Cook until shrimp are just cooked through. Stir in lime juice and cilantro.
  3. Prepare pastry: Roll out puff pastry, cut into squares. Spoon shrimp mixture onto one half of each square, add cheese, then fold over to form a triangle. Seal edges.
  4. Bake: Brush with egg wash and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Serve warm.

Notes

Notes:

  • Serve with sour cream, avocado slices, or extra lime juice.
  • Substitute puff pastry with phyllo dough or tortillas for a lighter option.
  • Adjust heat by using milder peppers or reducing cayenne.
