Ingredients
Scale

- 500 g (1 lb) chicken thighs or breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Sauce
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (cornstarch slurry)
Garnish
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions
Instructions
- Cook the Chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Brown the Chicken: Cook the chicken pieces in a single layer for 4-5 minutes per side until golden and fully cooked through. Then, remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare the Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium in the same skillet.
- Combine Sauce Ingredients: Add honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil (if using), minced garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Thicken the Sauce: Bring the sauce mixture to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry. Continue stirring for about 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
- Coat the Chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sticky honey sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the top before serving for added flavor and crunch.
Notes
- Use chicken thighs for juicier results, or chicken breasts for a leaner option.
- Adjust the amount of honey to your preferred sweetness level.
- Sesame oil and fresh ginger are optional but add authentic Asian flavor.
- Serve with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
