Description

These White Cheddar & Spinach Chicken Burgers are a flavorful and nutritious twist on traditional chicken patties. Packed with fresh spinach and melty white cheddar, these juicy burgers are easy to prepare and perfect for a healthy, satisfying meal. Whether cooked on the stovetop or grilled, they deliver a delicious combination of cheesy goodness and vibrant greens in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Burgers

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

For Serving

  • 4 burger buns
  • Desired toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, mayo, mustard, etc.

Instructions

  1. Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, minced garlic, thinly sliced green onions, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to avoid making the patties tough.
  2. Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a slightly flattened patty to ensure even cooking.
  3. Heat the Pan or Grill: Warm the olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Make sure the surface is hot before adding the patties to get a nice sear.
  4. Cook the Patties: Place the patties in the pan and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side. Flip carefully to maintain shape. Cook until the outside is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) to ensure they are fully cooked.
  5. Toast the Buns: While the burgers cook, toast the burger buns lightly either on the stovetop or grill to add a slight crunch and warmth.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Layer the cooked chicken patties on the toasted buns and add your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, mayo, or mustard. Serve the burgers hot for the best experience.

Notes

  • These burgers can also be grilled on an outdoor grill; be sure to oil the grates well to prevent sticking.
  • For a lighter version, use part-skim cheddar or skip the buns altogether and serve the patties over a fresh salad.
  • You can prepare the patties in advance, freeze them raw, and cook them straight from the freezer when ready.
